Good Riddance 2006! Welcome 2007!!

by Brad Isaac on December 31, 2006

I’ll tell you what, 2006 has been a rough year for my family and me.

The worst being the unexpected death of my father. Then came the somewhat expected death of my grandmother. Before that, my son being in the hospital for a week with appendicitis. I personally was misdiagnosed with a tumor in the lower part of my skull – which meant test after test after test as well as coming to terms with my own mortality.

That’s not to say 2006 has been all bad.

Although my first paragraph doesn’t seem like it, I’m an optimist through and through.

By choosing to look at the good, I can see that some of the tough times were sprinkled with good. Due to my strong relationship with the medical community, my son got awesome care. My friend is chief of the O.R. and saw to it that even at 2am, everything went like clockwork. There were pediatric docs checking in on him around the clock. Finally he was released in such a way, he didn’t want to come home! The hospital was so much fun to him.

The death of my Dad was very sad, but I learned what he looked like through other people’s eyes. People I had never met before had explained what a mentor he had been. How he had helped them deal with divorce, death in the family or an expectant pregnancy.

Being misdiagnosed with a tumor in the head…the key word is misdiagnosed. Although the tests were mighty uncomfortable, they weren’t as uncomfortable as surgery and potential chemo.

I’m still working on the positives from my grandmother. Her situation was tough. No question about it. She became very difficult to be around with screaming, attitude and the general sickness that went along with her physical ailments. Yes, I’m still working on that.

So with all of that out of the way, I am looking forward to 2007. It’s going to be filled with more happiness, joy, prosperity and family fun.

Who’s with me?!!

Have a happy and prosperous 2007!

“‘New Year’s Day. A fresh start. A new chapter in life waiting to be written.
Take a leap of faith and begin this wondrous new year by believing.
Believe in yourself. And believe that there is a Loving Source- a Sower of Dreams-
just waiting to be asked to help you make your dreams come true.”

This is a quote from Sarah Ban Breathnach’s book ‘Simple Abundance”.

Happy New Year!!, Brad,
