Smile! You’re on Google Street Map View!

by Brad Isaac on May 30, 2007

Google Maps has a new feature called Street View that might make you check your dress code before you leave the house. In certain cities, there are 360 degree photos of the street at pedestrian level. In other words, not only can you drill down to street directions, you can look at the particular house you want to visit and see if anyone is sitting on the porch.

Actually, all jokes aside, this looks like it would be very helpful for directionally challenged people such as myself. Having a photo of where a meeting is being held can help get the location right on the first try. :)

To use it you grab your little orange “you are here” guy and drag him to one of the blue-lined streets. Then up will pop a picture of the location with a 360 degree panorama view.
