A customer of mine is using Thunderbird with at least 100 folders but until now I couldn't find anything like SpeedFiler for Thunderbird. Nostalgy is not the same as SpeedFiler is Falco :) Unfortunately I use SpeedFiler with my Outlook 2003 and it is very good.

Cause otherwise, I would go for Thunderbird, honestly! Falko, Nostalgy doesn’t have the “File after send” feature. Cause otherwise, I would go for Thunderbird, honestly!

Alas, nothing has helped. Prior to Speedfiler, I just used ctrl+shift+v, Outlook would produce the folder list in 1-2 seconds, I would type part of the name, and save. I set the inbox as my default save folder, so I could select original and reply and file them at once. It works ok as a work-flow, but Speedfiler cuts down processing when it guesses the folder correctly, and as it learns and associates. I honestly don't understand the two minute pause when it searches for folders. What makes it more odd is that there are a handful of folder names that it will match almost instantly when I type them. As for the 4500 folders, it is one folder per institution that I deal with, and it's quite helpful when going back to prior conversation, so rearranging isn't an option. I'd also question from a productivty standpoint if that may be harming your workflow. But thats a topic for another day. Have you tried compressing your pst? Inbox repair might help the speed a bit too. 4500 folders is a staggering amount of data for any 3rd party plug in to deal with. I'm the poster child for needing this product, with 4500 folders accessed using IMAP to a Dovecot server. When SpeedFiler guess the right folder, it's instanteous, but if I have to type part of a folder name for a search, I have to wait 2 minutes with Outlook CPU utilization spiked at full the whole time. SpeedFiler tends to guess right, but every time I don't see the right folder in the suggestions, I cringe knowing that I'll have to wait 2 minutes for it to find the right folder. I keep hoping that a future revision will correct this behavior. I strongly encourage anyone considering SpeedFiler to test it in thoroughly first. This problem did surface during my evaluation, but I've chosen to live with it for the advantages when it does work. I'll ask the developer. Personally, I don't use the public folder feature of Speedfiler, so I don't know for sure. hmm… I’ll ask the developer. However we are planning to use Public Folders on our Exchange server, and the tests we did with Speedfiler so far shows that it has serious problems finding newly created public folders. Sometimes it takes up to 2 days before a new public folder is searchable in Speedfiler. (We have activated the Speedfiler option to include Public Folders) If anyone have any ideas how to reindex /rescan the folders in Speedfiler I would be very happy! Thanks in advance!
