Offline access is nice, but I think that a bigger advantage to being on the desktop would be speed and more UI options.

Google (gears) and Adobe (air) are moving to the desktop for a reason.

Oh, but the concept of “collections” and being info (not socially) centered is very interesting. Being info centered is a lot more web2.0 in my opinion than more common social centering. It leverages information to create networks.

I don’t think it’s time for a stand alone app that does just that. It will either be substituted by things like Flock, or other web-based apps. Poeple don’t need to be ofline so much anymore and moving web stuff out of the web just doesn’t make sense…
