The Bittersweet Feeling of “Exam Head”

Posted under Thoughts

"Exam Head" is the cloudy feeling you experience after long and single minded focus.  Many people describe this feeling after taking the long SATs or GRE exams.  Personally, I get the feeling after intense study or coding.  It’s a great reminder that you’ve done your best and given it your all.  Sure you might be a bit tired or fatigued.  But it’s worth it.

So take the phone off the hook, unplug the network cable, close the door to your office and roll up your sleeves - get to work and stay at work.  A few hours later when exam head sets in you can have the rest of the day or evening to spend as you wish with no regrets.

I get this, not as often as I would like, but I seriously get this. I have equated it with not having drank enough water in the past couple of hours.

Dehydration can cause some weird side effects.

Dehydration can cause flu-like symptoms, and something like 90% of people who use caffiene daily in any form are clinically dehyrdated.

I tend to normally drink a lot of water, but since all this talk of dehydration, I’ve upped my water intake. Yet, still have exam head after full days of coding. LOL
