Lifehacker’s How I Work Series Interviews …Me!

by Brad Isaac on May 9, 2006

I’ve said before, one of my daily Internet stomping grounds is Lifehacker.com.  It is a great site for hints and tips for doing just about everything better.  This week they are running a How I Work series where they’ve interviewed a number of goal centered and productivity oriented people.  I was one of the people they interviewed and they posted mine today.  They asked us how we work, the software and web sites we use daily and the PDA/personal organizer/system we use to stay organized.

Here’s a snippet:

LH: What desktop software do you use every day?

Brad: I am on an XP machine so I use windows software:

    • Outlook
    • Firefox with Performancing installed
    • Terminal server (remote access to manage my servers)
    • Visual Studio

Yesterday they posted Matt Haughey of MetaFilter fame.

I am not sure who else is coming the rest of the week, but I am really looking forward to finding out.

I read the story on Lifehacker and was enthused about trying Speed Reader Plus, I had never heard of it and it sounded interesting. After using it a couple of times I agree that it’s a great tool but I had one problem with it. Because you stare at a single spot on the PPC screen to read, my contact lenses started to dry out and irritate. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to read the old fashioned slow way.

I agree that can be a problem. but if you stick with it, you’ll be able to read and mentally tell yourself to blink without losing pace.
