If you are a tech geek like me, you like to try new software. I am a sucker for utilities – just about anything that saves me time or makes me more productive will easily earn my attention.
This can be a problem because not every program works out. I would love to say I immediately uninstall software that didn’t work out, but sometimes, it’s a borderline program that I an not sure about. And lets face it, Windows Add/Remove programs leaves something to be desired.
While searching out an update for my spyware utility, keyword utility, I stumbled on a freeware uninstaller called Zsoft uninstaller which is not only a utility,
It makes fast work of uninstalling those software flights of fancy. But a lot more than that.
Often times, a piece of spyware or worse sneaks by and installs itself on a computer. It takes some dedication to eyeball those titles and remove them manually. They can hide behind a similar name (Norman antivrus). Zsoft Uninstaller has a “crapware filter” that snoops these out so you can rip them out by the roots.
I happily noted there isn’t any crapware on my PC.
Another nice feature is the Analyze Installation feature. As an example, I ran it before I installed Ecto 2 – which by the way is a great offline blog editor.
It does a complete hard-drive snapshot before you install a program. After your install you analyze your hard-drive again and Zsoft Uninstaller reveals each little hidden file and registry entry.
If you decide you don’t want the program after all, Zsoft will clean up every file that was dropped by installation. I haven’t tried this myself, but I’ve been looking for a good uninstaller that gets rid of messy remnants.
So if you don’t like waiting on Add/Remove programs and want a more complete solution, give Zsoft Uninstaller a try.
