10 Ways to Boost Your Home Wi-Fi Network

by Brad Isaac on October 3, 2007

I’ve been hacking away at my home Wi-Fi router lately. No real reason besides it being fun. I have enough signal and speed. But if I can extract another few yards of service by applying a little tweak, I’ll do it.

Some of the tweaks I like best are the DD-WRT firmware upgrade, enabling WPA encryption and placing the router in a better location. Some of the ones I don’t like involve Tinfoil antennas (I never saw a boost in range). Same with soldering on a carefully wound extender antenna.

But if you are into these tweaks like I am, check out Daily DIY, they’ve got a list of 10 Wi-Fi Boosts, Tweaks and Apps you’ll probably want to bookmark.

Brad,

Could you please fix the second link above? I’d love to look at the 10 tips, but I get a 404 from your site.

Thanks.
