Hi all… A quick note to let you know I’ve put together a new build of Achieve-IT! goal software for Windows computers. Like Steve Austin, this version is better, stronger and faster than it’s been before.
I’ve spent a lot of time cleaning and polishing the little stuff so it looks better too. (I’ll list out the changes later) But for the early adopters, you can download the installer here:

Unless I hear any bad news about this, this will be the final version of the Desktop app. The sync component and Pocket PC update will soon follow.
So please take it for a spin and let me know how it does.

Update: For people who use European style date settings only: There is a file called A.I_Euro_dates.mdb in the Achieve it folder. Delete the A.I.mdb file and rename the A.I_Euro_dates.mdb to A.I.mdb. This should fix the registration problem.

Wow! It really is fast! Good job!
Thanks for trying it, the speed came at the cost of rebuilding most every part of the interface and “refactoring” the underlying code.
Have you noticed any bugs or unexpected issues?
It sounds like a great tool. I wanted to give it a shot but I opened the application but it said that my trial version had expired and I need to register. Is there a free version I could test first?

It should work for everybody. BUT, I just remembered. If you use European time settings, then the default database won’t work.
For people who use European style date settings only: There is a file called A.I_Euro_dates.mdb in the Achieve it folder. Delete the A.I.mdb file and rename the A.I_Euro_dates.mdb to A.I.mdb. This should fix that problem.

Downloaded the program when you first posted it (benefit of subscribing to the RSS feed!), but only got to load it tonight. Awesome stuff – you have obviously put in a lot of work since the last version I tried.
I did discover that you can’t load the A.I.mdb from the previous version (or I couldn’t), but it gave me a good opportunity to test out all the features – I haven’t finished yet!

Rod, Yes, I added some columns to the database and will have them transfer over the old data when the new version goes live.
Also, you mentioned in email the quick entry resulting in an unhandled exception error. This was a weird error. Apparently, the compiler simply left out that part of the code while compiling! A forced recompile made it work.
I am working on some other suggestions right now and will post another build once they are working.

I wanted to try your software, but when I open it, try to do anything a window pop up says:

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignoae this error and attempt to continue. I you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
The ‘Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0′ provider is not registered on the local machine.
I have saved the details if you need them.
I’m trying to use it on a laptop with vista home premium. I don’t like to waste my time on learning programs that are useless… I found interest on yours because it seems that could help me.
