Scribd: Read Books Shared Online

by Brad Isaac on August 19, 2007

I am sure many of you have already heard of this…  I’m late to the game but it’s still cool.  Just goes to show you can’t know everything.

Yesterday, I was looking for some information on NLP when a buddy sent me a scribdlink to the NLP classic  Frogs into Princes that was archived at a site called Scribd.    I had already read the book probably 18 years ago, but what I was more interested in was Scribd itself.  It is similar to The Project Gutenberg library but with a more Web 2.0 twist.

Each book can be downloaded in PDF, Word, standard text or amazingly, MP3 format.  The MP3 format is a text to speech reader and in my opinion easy to understand, though robotic.

Amit Agarwal from Digital Inspiration posted a tip that Scribd is also a good place to upload Powerpoint presentations because it makes them searchable.  Also, he’s got a great tutorial to archive already uploaded PDFs to Scribd with a simple right click.

So get out there and read something!
