Some Quick Ways To Navigate Google Calendar

by Brad Isaac on April 16, 2007

Are you using Google Calendar yet? If not, you probably should be. In addition to lots of great features, you can get free reminders and updates sent to your cell phone. If you’re already a user, though, you probably already know that. There are, though, some really cool features you may not have previously considered. For example, check out some of these keyboard shortcuts.

Once your inside your Google calendar account, press the “T” key. It will take you right to a view of your entire day. Need to backtrack a bit? Press the “P” key. It will move you to the last date range, which depends on your current default view. Want to look at next week? Press “N,” and you’ll be moved to your next date range.

Want to add a bit of fun? Perhaps you find the moon phases important to your life? Want to know when the Knicks play? Click the “+” sign next to “Other Calendars.” You’ll be able to choose from a whole host of things to automatically add to your calendar.

If you’re a Mozilla Firefox user, you can add events without even being logged into your calendar account. Download the GCal Quick Add Extension from the Mozilla site, and with a pinky’s pressure on the control key and the plus sign, you’ll be able to add whatever you like.

Google calendar is a great resource for busy people. Make use of these tips to free up a bit more of your time.
